One, Two, Many Journals

I’m guilty of a lot of things.

I’m guilty of staying up till at least 3AM every night because of insomnia and my thoughts being annoyingly active past midnight. I’m guilty of being a dedicated coffee addict, and I’m guilty of being one of those “Disney adults”... but in my case, I believe I’m more toned down. But, I won’t lie and say that I have a few Disney soundtracks in my Apple Music.

With all this being said, there’s one thing that I know for sure that I’m guilty of, and it’s shown the most throughout my room, and that’s my addiction to journals.

You might take this and respond like, “Ma’am… Five journals isn’t bad.”

No.

It’s nowhere near five, and it’s definitely past ten.

I have so many journals, it’s to the point where some are brand new, some are half-written in, three pages full… it doesn't stop. If I go into a store, I always feel obligated to grab a journal for a reason that was pretty unknown to me.

Until recently.

If you journal (and I hope that you do or find time to), you know that it’s similar to a diary, but probably more “adult-like”? I never openly had a diary growing up; I guess it was because I thought I never needed one. But when I got older, and started realizing how badly I needed to either vent to myself or jot down ideas? That’s when it became a problem that I’m glad that I have.

This blog post specifically is focused on journaling… if you haven’t guessed (lol). It’s nothing too deep or touchy. Just something that hopefully we can all relate to!

There are so many pros to journaling, thatI think we’d all be able to benefit from:

  1. Helps you to prioritize your problems, fears, and concerns

    1. If you ever feel like you don’t want to talk to someone instantly about your problems (no matter the size of them), I would recommend journaling for this purpose. You’re not only venting to yourself, but this can also help you with how to verbally communicate your fears, problems, or concerns to someone when the time is right.

  2. Pushing positive self-talk!

    1. Positive self-talk (or affirmations) are a very important key when it comes to journaling. There’s nothing wrong with reminding yourself that you’re a great woman! The more you write it and the more you say it, you start to believe it even more. As a result, you begin to recognize what other positive words you can add to your list.

      1. Ex) I’m beautiful, I’m a hard-worker, I deserve the love and patience that I give out to others, I’ll achieve whatever I put my mind to, I’m loved even on my worst days, etc. (Say it till you believe it!)

  3. Inspires creativity

    1. Coming from a creative girl myself, I love using journaling to help with my creativity. If I have really cool ideas that I want to remember? It’s going in the journal. Trying to jot down a really cool playlist idea? It’s going in the journal too.

Now, these are just three short reasons for you to start journaling, but there’s so many more reasons that may also be very personal to you, and could push you more into the idea! Who knows, we could end up bragging about the new journals we bought on separate occasions.

To still keep this short, but still very sweet:

Pick up a journal someday. It doesn’t have to be a fancy one… it could even be a regular college ruled notebook. But, pick one up and let your mind have control of the pen. You’ll never know what you need to release from your system until you start journaling for yourself. I promise, you’ll love it.
